Third Eye Blind & Jimmy Eat World in San Diego
Third Eye Blind and Jimmy Eat World, with special guests Ra Ra Riot closed out one of the last few dates of their Summer of Gods 2019 Tour at North Island Credit Union Amphitheater in San Diego on August 1, 2019.
Ra Ra Riot, an American Indie band from New York, kicked off the show with a few of their hits including “Flowers” and “I Need Your Light”. Jimmy Eat World came out to an excited crowd next, starting off their set with “Pain”. Lead singer Jim Adkins is hard to take your eyes off, with his infectious energy beside Robin Vining on keyboard with guitar and tambourine. They played other faves, like “Sweetness”, “Big Casino” and ended with their most popular song, “In The Middle”.
Third Eye Blind had big drapes over the stage… hmmm, something good was about to happen. It was cool seeing their shadows walk up to each other and huddle before they each walked to their place on the stage. They started with “Screamer” — partway through, the drape dropped. The crowd screamed in excitement with the drop. Lead singer Stephan Jenkins looked so mysterious and intriguing with his hood on in the perfect lighting and smoke. The venue wasn’t too packed, but that didn’t deter the fans to be so pumped up for this band. Some of the songs in the setlist included “I Want You”, “Graduate” and, of course, the favorites “How’s Going To Be” and “Semi-Charmed Life” closing out the show.
Third Eye Blind will be back on tour October 2019, stopping at Austin City Limits Music Festival in Auston, TX.
