Bonafide ‘s “Start and Stop” video begs world for peace
Jamaican born and Vegas-based reggae band Bonafide brings to the forefront the ongoing evils of police brutality towards people of color in America in their new “Start And Stop” music video. Not only that, but they do so alongside son of one of the biggest freedom fighters ever lived, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley.
The video begins outside, as the band casually meets with a friend who voices his concern for “what’s going on in the world today.” Standing in front of a colorful Bob Marley mural, the group chats about how the “whole world has stopped” — and for good reason! Black Lives Matter is beyond opinions; it’s a matter of what is right and what is wrong. Inhumane treatment based on skin color is wrong. Murder in cold blood is wrong. Thus, “Bonafide, the world needs you!” The band is happy to rise to the occasion — “no more starting and stopping”. Positive vibrations through music is healing, yet the messages need to ring louder and clearer at this critical time.
From America to JA and beyond, people of color are unjustly persecuted.
With actual footage of police officers hurting citizens during the recent “peaceful” protests for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and so many others, Bonafide fearlessly measures just how much room we still have to grow. The fight is far from over. Enjoy the new video for “Start and Stop” above and find the newly remastered single featuring Damian Marley on the digital platforms below.
