Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals gives Mountain View some ‘Malibu’

In 2016, the world was blessed by Anderson .Paak’s critically acclaimed second studio album, Malibu. Since then, he has brought on several projects, like NxWorries with producer Knxwledge, Silk Sonic with Bruno Mars, and his DJ persona Pee.Wee.

.Paak has established himself as one of the most critically daring modern musicians.

Even with all these projects going on, .Paak returned to his origins, embarking on a small run of shows alongside his Free Nationals to perform Malibu in its entirety, along with some other hits by .Paak.

Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals stuck to their promise, starting off the show with a complete run of Malibu, which features hits like “Come Down”, “Am I Wrong (featuring ScHoolboy Q)”, and “Heart Don’t Stand a Chance”. After the final song of the 2016 album, The Free Nationals dove into their own material, performing certified gold “Beauty & Essex” and “Eternal Light”. .Paak then returned to the stage, complete with a new outfit and joined The Free Nationals for select hits by .Paak, or songs he is featured on, pulling out classics like “Make It Better (featuring Smokey Robinson)”, “Glowed Up” (his collaboration with KAYTRANADA), and “Smokin Out The Window” by Silk Sonic. Other collaborations, like “RNP” with rapper Cordae and a more recent collaboration with electronic producer Fred Again… “places to be”, rounded out the set before ending with “Dang!” — a song off of the late Mac Miller’s Divine Feminine.

The crowd’s energy never once faltered as every song elicited a roar of cheers from the audience. The entire place was up on their feet dancing the entire show; seeing it live fully rounded out the experience that Malibu brings. The tour continues through mid-October in select cities, so this is your sign to jump on it! It’s truly an experience not to be missed!
