After nearly a decade away from American stadiums, AC/DC is plugging back in. The rock veterans just announced their 2025 PWR/Up North American Tour, marking their first US shows since 2016 and proving that rock’s most enduring act isn’t done making noise and melting faces.
The 13-date stadium run kicks off April 10th in Minneapolis at US Bank Stadium and wraps May 28th in Cleveland.
Along the way, the band will hit some of rock’s most storied venues, including Los Angeles’s Rose Bowl and Chicago’s Soldier Field, bringing their wall of Marshall amps to the biggest arenas in America.
This US leg follows the band’s successful European run this year, supporting their 2020 album Power Up, which topped charts in 21 countries and landed on several year-end lists, including spots on Rolling Stone‘s and Consequence of Sound‘s Top 50 Albums of the Year. The record also earned GRAMMY nominations for ‘Best Rock Album’ and ‘Best Rock Performance’.
For those keeping score, Power Up is AC/DC’s third Billboard #1 album, showing that even after nearly 50 years, the band’s commercial punch hasn’t softened.
It’s a remarkable achievement for a group that started in a Sydney nightclub on New Year’s Eve 1973.
The current lineup features Angus Young on lead guitar, still sporting his signature schoolboy uniform, with Brian Johnson back on vocals after some time away from the band. Stevie Young handles rhythm guitar duties, while Matt Laug and Chris Chaney hold down the rhythm section on drums and bass, respectively. While the personnel has evolved since their early days, the band’s fundamental thunder remains intact.
AC/DC’s influence on rock music is hard to overstate. With global album sales exceeding 200 million, including their landmark Back in Black album moving 50 million copies alone, they’ve been a blueprint for hard rock bands for generations. That album remains the bestselling album by any band and the third bestselling album by any artist in history.
Tickets for all dates went on sale last Friday, December 6th. Given AC/DC’s track record of selling out stadiums and the nine-year gap since their last US tour, fans would be wise to grab up whatever’s left — if there are any tickets remaining!
