G-Eazy gets West Des Moines fans in a frenzy

G-Eazy lit up the stage at the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines as part of his Helium Tour, delivering a high-energy performance that captivated the intimate crowd. The evening featured supporting acts Marc E. Bassy and Goody Grace, each bringing their unique flair to Iowa.

Goody Grace kicked off the night with just him and his acoustic guitar.

His songs were somber and raw. Although the crowd did not seem to know what to do at first, given the set had such a stark contrast to the other artists on the bill, things really picked up during Goody Grace’s cover of Cage The Elephant‘s “Cigarette Daydreams”. It took a few songs, but the achingly beautiful ballads had won over the crowd by the end.

Marc E. Bassy followed, changing the tone of the night with his signature R&B and hip hop fusion. Performing fan-favorites like “Morning” and “You & Me”, he struck a balance between laidback grooves and emotionally charged lyrics. Bassy ended the set on a high note with his latest single “Slide”, featuring a surprise guest appearance by G-Eazy himself!

When it was time for G-Eazy to come out onstage, he commanded it with a charismatic presence.

He seamlessly transitioned through his extensive catalog, including hits from throughout his career like “Tumblr Girls” and “No Limit”. Goody Grace came back onstage to play lead guitar and back vocals for the entirety of G-Eazy’s set, but was especially notable during the performance of “I Mean It”; the song was originally performed with rapper Remo the Hitmaker. Adapting the song to fit the velvety vocal stylings of Goody Grace gave a noteworthy and soulful spin on the song.

When G-Eazy ended his official set with the wildly popular anthem “Me, Myself & I”, the energy in the Val Air Ballroom reached a whole new level. The opening notes alone were enough to send the crowd into a frenzy and, as the beat dropped, every single person in the room seemed to be singing along. It was one of those electric concert moments where the artist and audience were completely in sync; voices echoing off the walls, arms waving in the air, and phones lighting up the venue. G-Eazy fed off the crowd’s enthusiasm, delivering each line with passion and precision.

Just when it seemed the night had come to a close, the crowd’s chants brought him back to the stage for a much-anticipated encore. G-Eazy returned with a sly grin and launched into a high-octane performance of “Lady Killers II / Lady Killers III”, which reignited the room’s energy almost instantly. He followed up with his more recent release “Anxiety” as a powerful sendoff that left the crowd buzzing well after the lights came up.
