SG Lewis & friends give house heads Anemoia in Los Angeles

The Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall vibed out to a warm energy as house heads gathered for SG Lewis’ Anemoia Tour. Known for blending disco, deep house, and soulful pop, SG Lewis has built a rep as one of the most forward-thinking producers of his generation. Yet with his latest album Anemoia, a word meaning “nostalgia for a time or place one has never known,” he’s exploring the timelessness of dance music and the emotions that come with it.
The evening began with an exhilarating deep house set from Lafiero.
His thumping basslines filled the large venue, echoing through the Shrine’s high ceilings. As strobes danced across the crowd, waves of people moved and vibed together, already lost in the rhythm. The room turned into an open-air party and I personally could not wait for what was to come.
Next up was Sofia Kourtesis, the DJ supporting the Anemoia Tour. The Lima-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer — whose set highlighted her Latin musical culture through energetic dance beats — beautifully transitioned between euphoric deep house tracks and melodic interludes, occasionally grabbing the microphone to sing in Spanish. The experience captured the spirit of a Cercle set (#IYKYK), but in the heart of Los Angeles, while her visuals flooded the room with motion images of reflecting her Peruvian roots.
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for.
SG Lewis stepped onto the stage, electric guitar in hand. He switched off playing the guitar and turntables, amazing the crowd with his smooth vocals and shimmering production. He played through tracks from Anemoia, as well as his older projects.
About two songs into his set, Lewis brought out a surprise guest RAHH, a Manchester-based singer who mixes electronic, R&B, and house; later in the night, another surprise guest took the stage — Tove Lo, the Swedish pop powerhouse. The latter helped SG Lewis perform tracks from their joint EP HEAT under their duo project name, Club Heat, prompting fans to shout along to Tove Lo’s catchy lyrics.
And LA def took the heat in stride!
At its core, Anemoia captures SG Lewis’ lifelong fascination with eras he’s never lived, such as the carefree joy of 70s New York disco or the euphoria of 90s Ibiza, aka, the acid house revolution that redefined rave culture. “Like many of us, I’ve always dreamt about what it might have been like to live through those times,” SG Lewis wrote on an Instagram. “I want this album to accompany the moments of today, so that one day, people might look back and feel ‘Anemoia’ about what we experience now.”
As SG Lewis continues his tour, set to wrap up this December in the UK, the show is a must-see for fans of nu-disco, deep house, and electro pop. Check out the tour dates below to get your tickets — you won’t regret experiencing one of the UK’s finest deejays!
