A night of narrative & intrigue with Lord Huron in St. Louis

Lord Huron’s stop at St. Louis’ Chaifetz Arena was a show that felt less like a standard concert and more like a play on Broadway. The band has always leaned into theatrics, but this performance pushed their storytelling instincts even further, using blocking and props onstage to create a true narrative to go with the setlist.

A standout was a lone payphone positioned near the front of the stage.

It’s an unusual choice in 2025, but one that became a recurring prop throughout the night. At several points, frontman Ben Schneider interacted with it as if receiving calls from another time or place, giving the set an intriguing sense of mystery. But before all this, Kevin Morby opened the evening with a focused and confident set, easing the crowd in with his warm, unhurried style. By the time Lord Huron went on, the audience had already settled into a reflective mood that the headliner’s music thrives in.

Lord Huron’s setlist was a mix of long-time favorites and newer material. Each song was accompanied by thoughtful visual cues, like shifts in lighting, projected landscapes, and that ever-present payphone — which sometimes rang softly between songs. The band played tightly, with Schneider’s vocals carrying a little extra grit that suited the scale of the room.

Although the production was ambitious, it never overshadowed the music.

Instead, it reinforced the themes of longing and wanderlust that run through Lord Huron’s catalogue. Theatrical but not overdone, the show managed to feel intimate despite the size of the venue. Returning to the real world after the show felt like coming back from a journey the band had carefully crafted for you.

Overall, it was a memorable, well-paced performance that showcased Lord Huron’s ability to turn a concert into a cohesive story and I would recommend you catching them next time they are near your city!
