Dave Matthews Band blows minds in Mountain View, CA

When you see Dave Matthews Band, you know you are witnessing something special. I’ve seen DMB many times over the years and this night was no exception. Since 1991 (over 30 years now), Dave Matthews Band has been playing for adoring fans all over the world. The band still has three remaining founding members, including frontman Dave Matthews, bassist Stefan Lessard and drummer Carter Beauford. Newer members include Tim Reynolds on guitar, Rashawn Ross on trumpet, saxophonist Jeff Coffin, and Buddy Strong on keys.

On September 17th at Mountain View’s Shoreline Ampitheatre, the band treated the audience to an amazing performance. Their opening song “Minarets” was followed by a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Fool in the Rain”. I really enjoyed hearing “Grey Street”, which Dave dedicated to an old friend in the audience. They played a mixture of older much loved songs, such as “#41”, “Drive in Drive out”, “Why I Am”, “Don’t Drink the Water” and “Warehouse”, as well as newer songs, such as “Madman’s Eyes” and “Walk Round the Moon”. Buddy Strong sang lead for a cover of The Isley Brother’s “It’s Your Thing”.

For the encore, Dave played a solo without the rest of the band.

Following that, the rest of the band returned as they closed out the show with an amazing rendition of their hit “Two Step”.

It was an absolute honor to be able to photograph Dave Matthews Band! It’s a bucket-list item I never thought I would check off. This experience was truly the embodiment of DMB’s lyrics “Life is short, but sweet for certain”, which are part of the final song they played that night. Thank you, Dave Matthews Band!

DMB’s current tour continues across the US until the end of 2022, and concludes with a handful of shows in Mexico at the beginning of 2022. Make sure to catch it while you can!
