Desert Air Fest 2024: Night Two
Daytime festivities at the Palm Springs Surf Club on Saturday featured an exclusive wave pool, lounges, and music presented by deejays such as Lubelski, Maddy Maia, and Michelle Leshem — just to name a few — that carried the festival’s energy from late morning to the time Desert Air opened their gates for Night Two.
Saturday night brought more unforgettable performances, starting with a last-minute substitution at the Hangar Stage.
Kelly Lee Owens stepped in for Joy Orbison, who had to withdraw from the fest due to illness. Owens amazed the crowd with her dreamlike techno-pop set. Over at the Terminal, Mall Grab, the Australian house and techno prodigy, turned up the heat with an epic set that kept the early crowd moving.
Just after, the Terminal Stage welcomed a special 90-minute performance by UK-based deejay Sammy Virji, whose mix of house and electronic vibes kept the vibes flowing until the big headliner.
The night concluded with the real-deal of the entire festival, Jamie xx, whose impeccably crafted set on the Terminal Stage closed out the weekend with an unforgettable set of move, groove, and light! Around the festival, there were immersive audio-visual installations, lounges in the VIP section, and admirable vintage WWII planes housed around the festival grounds.
For the adventurous, taking a ride in one of seven Warbird aircrafts added a thrilling take to the weekend.
Set against the backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains and Palm Springs International Airport, Desert Air 2024 delivered on its promise of a weekend to remember. With its perfectly curated lineup, visually stunning stages, and out-of-this-world experiences, this weekend in the low desert of SoCal was a party of electronic dance music and Palm Springs magic. Until next year!
