Duckwrth turns Pomona, California into All American Freak Show

On a poppin’ Saturday evening at The Glass House in Pomona, California, the stage lit up for Duckwrth’s All American Freak Show Tour. The lineup was stacked and every artist delivered.

Kicking off the night was The Last Slice, a relatively new act fused as a hard rock/hip hop powerhouse. The Los Angeles-based band, assembled in 2024, and has spent the last year laying the groundwork for growing fandom with the release of their self-titled EP. What stuck out about The Last Slice was how fearless they seemed to be, especially as a newer group.

They thrived on distortion, chaos, and rhythm changes.

Next up was Houston’s DE’WAYNE, who recently dropped his june album. Building his own lane in the alt rock scene, DE’WAYNE mixes the attitude of pop punk with rock energy. Tracks from june were performed, as well as a cover of The Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog”. The latter was unexpected and a daring move although it was also fitting, as he channeled his inner Iggy Pop. It was the perfect setup for what came next.

When Duckwrth finally took the stage, you could feel the crowd’s excitement. This was a headliner with something to prove, as the All American Freak Show Tour is built around his new studio album, All American F*ckBoy.

He presented himself in stylized makeup of painted stars along both of his eyes, just like the cover of his latest album, dressed in glam/punk/alt attire. Many of his fans from the show showed up with different versions of his makeup, as well. Tracks from All American F*ckBoy dominated the setlist, with his latest track “Wyl’ Out” thrown in for everyone to wyl’d out to. He revisited earlier cuts, as well, from older albums such as SuperGood and Chrome Bull to remind fans how far he’s come.

All American F*ckBoy is a personal tale, commenting on toxic behavior traits he took on, such as the desire of being with multiple women at once while one of the women he was seeing was playing the same game. Of course, this resulted in Duckwrth taking a downward spiral, wanting to break patterns in his romantic relationships.

Duckwrth took the stage to show both sides of himself, revealing his vulnerabilities.

All in all, the album is well-written, raw, honest, and relatable to anyone living in (or overcoming) the same cycle. The story behind All American F*ckBoy and the album’s production go hand-in-hand, with smooth R&B and sensual beats throughout the entire album. You can’t pair heartache with any other form of beats!

The Glass House stop on this tour was everything Duckwrth is leaning into now: genre fusion with other acts, vulnerability, and a willingness to tell his darkest secrets. He is about to carry this momentum beyond US borders with the tour including European dates in November, promising to bring this freak show manifesto across the Atlantic. There’s still time to catch a show if you’re US-based, though! Get your tickets here.
