Pennywise at OC’s Garden Amp: Weekend 2, Day Three
On March 13th, Pennywise headlined their fifth night — and third night in a row — over a two-week span at southern California’s outdoor Garden Amp. On this fun and final night, they played the album Straight Ahead from front to back — it was straight up phenomenal! Sunday’s show was further supported by punk rock bands Urethane, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Strung Out.
Out first was skate punk band Urethane, with pro skater Steve Caballero on guitar.
They hit the stage hard, with great energy. Urethane were followed by one of my favorite bands of all time, Voodoo Glow Skulls. They got the pits and crowd going with blaring horns and strong ska/punk energy. Then, Strung Out stormed out — everyone was pumped and singing along! After Strung Out, it was time for the final performance of Pennywise (it was like they were starting to call the Garden Amp ‘home’!!). The entire crowd sang a long to every word from Straight Ahead. That album is not only fantastic in its own right, it was also the perfect choice to close out Pennywise’s short and sweet amphitheater residency.
