The Aggrolites at Saint Rocke
On the heels of the release of their highly anticipated, long-awaited album, Reggae Now, the Los Angeles-based Aggrolites lit the stage on fire at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach, CA on May 25th, 2019. This being the first live taste of their new album, excited fans came out in full force to hear the latest music, as well as their old favorites. Bringing back the vintage reggae beats of the early 70s mixed with their signature “dirty reggae” sound, The Aggrolites delivered an energetic, entertaining and uplifting set. As fans danced and sang along to their favorites, the response to songs from the band’s sixth studio album was off the charts, blowing the roof off the joint in an otherwise sleepy seaside town.

The new songs showcase the soft side of the band, allowing for lead singer Jesse’s vocals to shine while also delivering the familiar danceable beats and slight punk sound that kept the crowd moving and grooving until the very last song. The band’s infectious energy would never lead you to believe that after recording Rugged Road in 2011, that they had reached a burnout point, losing motivation to record new music. While still touring over the years, clearly the time off from writing and recording new music gave space for the band to step back and regain the love, bringing with them a renewed sense of musicianship and brotherhood that stood out during their performance.
With Saint Rocke being one of the band’s favorite venues to play, their phenomenal performance at such an intimate place only leads one’s imagination to the possibilities as their tour progresses this summer. Be sure to catch them!
