The Black Keys & Modest Mouse rocked San Diego

The Black Keys‘ headlining tour, featuring Modest Mouse with Shannon and the Clams, hit San Diego’s Pechanga Arena on Sunday, November 14th. Shannon and the Clams started the night off right with some upbeat jams that got the crowd going. The quartet, based out of Oakland, consists of Cody Blanchard on vocals/guitar, Shannon Shaw on bass/vocals, Will Sprott on keyboards/vocals and Nate Mahan on drums. What can best be described as a ‘garage rock feel’ with some doo-wop vibes, the band played many hits from their newest release Onion, fresh from 2018, such as its self-titled track and “The Boy”.

The Let’s Rock Tour did NOT disappoint, bringing all the hits…

Soon after, Modest Mouse took the stage to what seemed like a full house and everybody was ready for them. Giving a fresh rendition to many of their hits, the band filled the stage with multiple musicians, creating all elements of each song live, consisting of frontman Issac Brock on vocals/guitar, Jeremiah Green on drums, Tom Peloso on upright bass/keyboards, Jim Fairchild on guitar, Russell Higbee on bass/guitar, Lisa Molinaro on strings/keyboards and Ben Massarella as additional percussion. A full house calls for full sound and Modest Mouse has it! The band played key hits such as “Lampshades on Fire”, “Night on the Sun” and “Dashboard”.

After slaying the stage, The Black Keys came on and the crowd went nuts. The Let’s Rock Tour did NOT disappoint, bringing all the hits such as “Gold on the Ceiling”, “Lonely Boy” and even treated the crowd with a nice-sized encore, including “Lo/Hi” and “She’s Long Gone”. Staying true to their low-key selves, duo Dan Auerbach (on guitar/vocals) and Patrick Carney (on drums) spent most of the night giving the fans the shredding they came for rather than acknowledging the hiatus they had just returned from. The group didn’t skip a beat once, giving some fresh electric renditions to their song “Little Black Submarines”. Don’t miss the epic return of The Black Keys alongside Modest Mouse and Shannon and the Clams as the Let’s Rock Tour finishes up on the west coast with dates in Portland, Tacoma and a finalé show in Vancouver, BC on November 24th!
