It’s no secret that big inspiration often comes from true love, something that New Zealand’s award winning superstars, Katchafire can certainly attest to in their latest release titled “Love Today.” The track stays true to Katchafire’s tried and tested formula of classic roots reggae, R’n’B and funk, as the track delivers another all-out sensory assault for the masses and setting themselves up for an even bigger 2018 ahead with their much anticipated forthcoming studio album set to drop April, 2018.
The song is about loving something so much, that it empowers you and sets you free from your normal world
To compliment the release, Polly Armstrong put her spin on the track for an official video which adequately plays on the emotion-filled lyrics by putting a lighthearted spin on a lovesick romance, and just in time for Valentine’s Day. Make sure to give the video a play below.
Producer and smooth vocalist Jordan Bell says, “The song is about loving something so much, that it empowers you and sets you free from your normal world – ultimately changing you for the better.” He added, “The way this song came together is the epitome of the legacy kaupapa (theme). Katchafire is such a huge family – not only the core members but international members, as well as family, that have housed, fed, and looked after us on this journey. They have all played a part. “Love Today” has many places to call home; like a child that is raised and loved by many parents… A true family effort and labour of love”.
