SunDub, the dub-heavy reggae collective out of Brooklyn, returns with a “Mt. Zion” remix by none other than Victor Rice! The original track is off of the band’s Burden of Love album that dropped back in June last year, yet is resurfacing now after pairing with legendary dub producer Victor Rice (Easy Star All Star’s Dub Side of The Moon, Radiodread, etc.) to not only collab on this song, but make a whole EP of the endeavor! Thus far, Rice has loaned his expertise to three Burden of Love singles, the first of which debuted via Color Red Music in mid-April 2020. Now with another SunDub Meets Victor Rice remix ready to go, Top Shelf Music is happy to host the single’s official premiere!
If there was ever an anthem for summertime right around the corner, this is it!
The horn-centric, easy-to-listen-to track stays as strong as the original — not stripped of vocals, like so many dub tracks are prone to do. The melodic journey of “Mt. Zion” is emphasized in added reverb, polished to perfection under Rice’s guidance. If there was ever an anthem for summertime right around the corner, this is it! “I can feel the sunshine on me // Brightening up my day,” sings lead singer Joanna Teters over harmonized backup vocals. Zion Dub (Victor Rice Remix)” by clicking on the link below and be sure to check out SunDub’s single (as well as the rest of the forthcoming SunDub Meets Victor Rice EP) on all digital outlets via Color Red.
