Fall is in the air as we celebrate the warmth in our hearts. The changing of the season makes us grasp onto those last warm summer breezes every year… and there’s one band we must mention that is always full of summer vibes year-round. Rocking the Cali reggae scene and repping peace, love, and unity for us all for over a decade is Fortunate Youth, with their latest album release, Love For The Music, now rocking the entire world.
Fortunate Youth gives traditional reggae grooving a modern edge.
Love For The Music begins with an oceanic celebration entitled “CA Vibes” — gotta love reggae rock culture and surfing! This song uplifts listeners right off the bat; it’s perfect for connecting with friends on the way to good times and making new memories. Next up is “Tell Me”, which starts the ska dance party before “Good Lovin” mellows out the beat to emphasize those butterfly feelings we get when we fall hard for that special someone.

Encapsulating the rebellious spirit of Costa Rica and other beautiful destinations, “What A Dream” is a reflective track about gratitude and hope, while “Hot Hot Summer” takes us to the water, to the next party, to where we can be free — even if the weather doesn’t play along.
And it’s “Baby Don’t Go” that grabs at your heartstrings, trust us.
Sitting at track seven is title track “Love for the Music”, spelling out how music has the ability to bring us all together, curing what ails us as we vibe. This uplifting masterpiece features GRAMMY-nominated reggae artist Kumar Fyah, shifting back and forth from reggae beats to bits of R&B and jazz elements. “Dm Interlude” offers that true reggae rock sound, bringing out the dance party once again to brighten our minds and souls. “Never Gonna Fall” is by far my favorite track on this album, sitting third from last; it’s a powerful, fiery ode to the dreamers in the depths of sacrifice and focus.
“Music Is Key” says it all in the name, as music is the key to happiness. Last, but not least, track 11 “Hold On” is a song of resilience, encouraging listeners to move onward and upward. Life is too short to worry and this song reminds you to enjoy the journey. This whole album is inspired by FY’s love for creating, sharing, and celebrating the reasons that brought this whole band together in the first place. If Fortunate Youth is coming to a town near you, I highly recommend going to see this new installment played live!
