Morgan Heritage ‘Avrakedabra’ album review

Few albums have the ability to captivate from the beginning to end, but this stunning new release from GRAMMY award winning reggae legends Morgan Heritage does that and more. From the shimmering and smooth opening track, “Want Some More,” to the melodic and nostalgic tones of “One Family,” this entire collection is velvety listening throughout. Noted producer Shannon Sanders proves once again that he has the Midas touch when it comes to working with artists whose music packs a strong punch.

On this album’s second cut, “One Life To Live” Morgan Heritage toys with EDM and brings in illusive dubstep sequences. The tracks, “Ready For Love” and “Selah” finds the group leading with its strengths: inspiring, GRAMMY Award winning cuts and ballads with strong vocals backed by smooth harmonies.

…we feel it represents the new Era that our career is about to enter

“The title was inspired by our love of history. Being that we are students of history, we discovered this word and it’s various pronunciations throughout the history of time. We chose it as the title of the album because we like it and we feel it represents the new Era that our career is about to enter. The meaning we will leave to the audience to choose, since we’ve discovered so many over the dispensation of time”, explained Morgan Heritage about the album title “Avrakedabra.”

The album, which is their best work to date, will play host to some heavyweight featured appearances. With rising reggae superstar artists Kabaka Pyramid and Dre Island leading the front for the younger generation, multi-GRAMMY Award-winning Ziggy Marley and Stephen Marley also lend their talents to the collaborative mix. GRAMMY, Emmy, and Dove Award-winning producer Shannon Sanders guides the group’s vision behind the mixing console. Avrakedabra will mark a new era for the group, as the main production team slimmed down to a power trio of Peetah, Mojo, and Gramps.
