Tropidelic ‘Here In The Heights’ album review

Tropidelic ‘Here In The Heights’ album review

Tropidelic is in a category all its own. Their latest album, Here In The Heights, is a product of successfully combining funk, reggae, rock and hip hop with excellent and creative songwriting. With passion, soul, funky guitar and brass instrumentals, the six-piece band from Cleveland, Ohio gives Here In The Heights the band’s trademark sound. Strong vocals masterfully round out the album, blending perfectly to balance out the 10-track album out now off Ineffable Records.

“Each of us brings distinctive musical backgrounds and preferences to the table and I think that really allows us to create something unique and exciting,” shared guitarist and vocalist Matthew Roads. “After seeing how well received ‘Bad One’ and our other singles we release were, we’re excited for fans, new and old, to give this a listen!”

“Each of us brings distinctive musical backgrounds and preferences to the table…”

The new album also features collaborations with notable artists, including Angelo Moore (of Fishbone), Howi Spangler (of Ballyhoo!), Mark Murphy (of Wookiefoot) and Zach Deputy.

Here In The Heights is extremely engaging, reminiscent of the period where artists like 311 were dominating your mixtape collection. Through unforgettable choruses and careful, precise instrumentation, Tropidelic manages to take what might seem like a farfetched idea and make it come to life beautifully.
