Bleachers absolutely obliterates Greek Theatre stage in Berkeley

When he’s not producing some of the world’s most sought after artists, like Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, and The 1975, just to name a few, Jack Antonoff is fronting the band Bleachers who has just released their fourth studio album earlier this year. Though he’s working with pop music’s elite and cementing his distinctive sound in his production work, it’s really Antonoff’s live shows that affirm the intricacy of his craft in every body of work that he’s involved in. Jack Antonoff is an absolute wonder of a performer to watch — his band included. There is a vivacious energy onstage that comes to life during Bleachers’ live sets.

Antonoff proved to Berkeley fans that there is a reason why he’s everywhere in the music scene right now.

With four studio albums and two live albums under their belt, Bleachers returned to the Greek Theatre in Berkeley for their aptly named From The Studio To The Stage Tour. The set wasn’t short of fan-favorites, spanning across the band’s discography. With an elaborate stage design, decorated with spiral staircases and platforms, fans watched as Antonoff and members of his band bounced back and forth through the set pieces, almost like an interactive playground — so much so that Antonoff stopped to address the mess they made all over the stage at one point!

About halfway through, the set momentarily slowed down as fans were treated to a special moment. The backdrop fell and revealed Antonoff’s studio at Electric Lady, recreated as a rising set. Antonoff performed acoustic renditions of “91” and “45”, as the remaining Bleachers members sat and watched him from below. The crowd got an intimate look into what Antonoff’s studio life and creative process is like as he produces songs. The night’s final numbers “I Want To Get Better”, “Don’t Take The Money”, and “Stop Making This Hurt”, rounded out the night with a rush of energy; the crowd belted out every single word of the anthems.
