California Roots 2018 was unforgettable in a multitude of ways. Day One was jam-packed from the start, with headliners Atmosphere and Iration leading into the highly anticipated Day Two. With yoga going on during The Ries Brothers, Hawaiian chanteuse Anuhea brought the main Bowl Stage back to life after an overnight hibernation. The day progressed with hip hop flows from Xiuhtezcatl and everyone was awed when Nahko Bear unexpectedly joined the young rapper onstage for a quick duet! The Hip Abduction continued the vibes, followed by The Holdup on the Cali Roots Stage. Fortunate Youth literally went bananas, as giant inflatable bananas and Raw joints descended on the amassed crowd. What a sight to behold, with bananas flying in every direction…

Stephen “Ragga” Marley brought the red, gold and green to the party, and Trevor Hall's soothing music made waves on the Cali Roots Stage. Meanwhile, several pop-ups on the Weedmaps Stage hosted by Beebs were entertaining those taking a break, including acoustic performances by For Peace Band and The Expanders. As day turned into night, Ozomatli's high-energy Latin-infused set made everyone clap and dance; what animated characters those players are! Finally, it was headliner time, as east coast indie-rock legends Dispatch took the stage. People were in tears witnessing the live show of a band that has made such strides in the music history. GRAMMY-nominee J Boog was up next, closing down the Cali Roots Stage, before Cali Roots veterans Rebelution closed down the Bowl.
