Currents co-headlines with ERRA in San Diego

San Diego got hit with a dose of modern metalcore on April 12th, 2026, as the Silence Follows Tour rolled through town — a fitting name for a night that never actually allowed a moment of silence. Built as a true co-headlining between Currents and ERRA, the tour pulls its title from their latest releases: All That Follows (Currents) and silence outlives the earth (ERRA). From beginning to end, it was every modern metalcore fan’s perfect night out at the House of Blues: pits, crowdsurfing, and fans screaming alongside you.
Opening the night, Aviana brought a dark, industrial-leaning edge all the way from Gothenburg. Their aesthetic leans hard into the theatrical with members going by names like “Death” and “Fear”. The group stormed the stage in matching gothic makeup and full uniforms… which definitely raised some eyebrows… but once the music kicked in, it was clear they weren’t there to be a gimmick. Their set was tight, punishing, and unrelenting. It’s true what they say, folks: you don’t know until you know.
And everyone in the room respected that Aviana threw it down.
Next up, Caskets shifted the energy into something more melodic without losing intensity. Fresh off their 2025 release The Only Heaven You’ll Know, they opened strong with “Make Me A Martyr”. While newer material and cuts from Reflections landed well enough, it was the Lost Souls run that truly hit. The closing stretch — especially “Glass Heart” — turned into a full-room singalong with Matt Flood delivering a near-flawless vocal performance. It was a reminder of just how strong their debut still is.
Then came ERRA… and things escalated fast. Opening with “gore of being” from their freshly released silence outlives the earth, they wasted zero time reminding everyone why they sit at the top of the progressive metalcore heap. The set balanced new material with fan-favorites like “Eye of God”, “Drift”, and “Skyline” in between newer tracks like “echo sonata” and “furthur eden”. Their signature intricate guitar work, shifting time signatures, and soaring melodies felt razor-sharp live and cut us deep.
Closing with “Snowblood” was the knockout punch, causing a massive, crowd-screaming finale.
By the time Currents hit the stage, the crowd was primed, for better or worse. Opening with “So Alone”, it didn’t take long for things to click into place. Running through their All That Follows EP (while weaving in staples like “Monsters”, “Better Days”, and “Remember Me”), the set leaned heavily on fan service. It may have played it a bit safe, overall, but the reaction in the room said it all — this is what people came for. The turning point came with “Apnea, dropped right in the middle of the set; it detonated the crowd into chaos — easily one of the night’s most explosive moments. And of course, “Into Despair” delivered its signature climax, with the entire venue screaming, “I SAT BACK AND I LET THE DEVIL IN” before the breakdown hit. Currents closed with “It Only Gets Darker”, the standout single from their latest EP, ending the night on a fittingly heavy note.
The Silence Follows Tour might be built as a shared headline, but it doesn’t feel like a competition; ERRA leans into complexity and evolution, while Currents doubles down on emotional weight and crowd connection. Together, they delivered a night that was loud, cathartic, and exactly what modern metalcore should feel like in 2026. Don’t miss this epic dual headline tour as it heads out again in November!
