Death Cab for Cutie serenades Washington D.C.
Death Cab for Cutie recently played an amazing show at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. Being that this was my first Death Cab show, I was excited to see what was in store for me. I have loved this band for years and I was honestly ecstatic for the opportunity to see them and take photos of what was sure to be a beautiful show!
Thao, a bluesy-folksy singer-songwriter, opened the show and it was awesome.
After Thao’s opening act, it was the anticipation of the intermission that got to me. Waiting for Death Cab to go on was terrible… but, once the lights went down, it was amazing to see the crowd’s mood change! Studio albums are one thing, but to be serenaded by Ben Gibbard’s voice is a whole different experience, which left me stunned.
Death Cab is absolutely amazing.
The Washington-based band captured their audience and instantly put everyone in a very calm state. My favorite part of the show was the combination of the lights and the house production that matched perfectly with the music. They captured my attention with their emotional jams and had me following along with the beat. Death Cab for Cutie is a band we all know and love, and being able to hear all of those tracks live that I have jammed out to time and time again was a life-changing experience. If you want a show that is going to put you into a serene, trance-like state, Death Cab is definitely the way to go! The band’s newest (and 10th) album, Asphalt Meadows, was just released back in September; it is a masterpiece, brilliantly fitting into the band’s lengthy discography, and I am definitely recommending that you check it out!
