I See Stars wraps tour in Detroit with Mothica & more

Four bands came together in Detroit to make their last day of the Spin The Wheel Tour special. The first artist onstage was Diamante. I slept on this girl for seven years and I regret that; she came onstage strutting around like she owned it. Her voice has so much power behind it, you can not help but pay attention to her. She knew the crowd was watching and she made sure to engage with them as much as possible. Her stage presence is so enchanting. The music itself felt very retro, like the glory days of the 80s.
I honestly questioned how Diamante was just the opening band.
Until I Wake was onstage next. Diamante was all about encouraging everyone to get up and dance and have a good time; Until I Wake, on the other hand, wanted to drive all the emotions straight into your skull and make you run into a wall. It was such a drastic contrast, but ended up working well with the night’s rundown.
Up third was Mothica, the beautiful queen of moths — the gloom pop princess. She lulled the crowd into a trance from the first song, like numbing the crowd to all the emotions that Until I Wake had just unleashed. Mothica is very personal onstage, explaining this night the meaning of “emo butterflies” — I mean, moths — and getting vulnerable before her song “forever fifteen”. I’m so glad I caught her on this tour after everything she has been through!
Last band onstage was Michigan natives, I See Stars.
These guys went all out onstage, with smoke, flashing lights, and screaming. I couldn’t tell if we were at an EDM show or if it was metalcore. Lead singer Devin Oliver wore a sequined outfit with a star drawn on his face. To hear “The End of the World Party” felt like such a throwback, too. I could see why I See Stars ended the night. The crowd went insane. The crowd-surfing was nonstop. What a show to watch!
I came away from this show thinking the lineup was much better than I thought it would be; it all somehow worked and everyone was so fun to watch. I went through all the emotions and feelings with this show. I hope I get to see all four bands again on a future tour!
