Lamb of God & Mastodon make Cleveland circle up & crowd-surf
On August 9th, Jacobs Pavilion in Cleveland, Ohio, was THE place to be for metal fans. Lamb of God and Mastodon came to town for their Ashes of Leviathan Tour, a special event celebrating the 20th anniversary of Mastodon’s Leviathan and Lamb of God’s Ashes of the Wake albums.
The night started with Unearth and Kerry King, bringing the head-banging right out the gate.
After Kerry King, Mastodon hit the stage first, kicking things off with “Blood and Thunder”. The energy was kept at an all-time high with songs like “Iron Tusk” and “Hearts Alive” to follow, wrapping their set with “Steam Breather”. Insane.
Before we knew it, Lamb of God was closing the concert down… in fiery fury. The band began their set with “Laid to Rest” and the crowd went wild, doubling down with heavy tracks like “Hourglass”, “Break You”, and “Walk with Me in Hell”. Lamb of God is one of the loudest bands you’ll ever hear and the crowd was all in, with plenty of crowd-surfing and circle pits going on throughout the night. The ultimate ending to the night? “Redneck”, leaving the audience craving more.
If you’re a metalhead and haven’t seen Lamb of God and Mastodon live (let alone together!!), you need to. Their shows are unforgettable and catching both in one night, back-to-back, is unreal!
