Mannequin Pussy sells out San Diego with support from Margaritas Podridas

The Observatory North Park came alive with girl power as Mannequin Pussy headlined a sold-out show, supported by Mexican opener Margaritas Podridas. Fans packed the venue early, eager for a night of true rock and roll therapy courtesy of these two punk queens.

Margaritas Podridas, hailing from Hermosillo, Mexico, kicked off the evening with a head-turning performance. The humble three-piece band took the stage and immediately captivated the crowd. Their punk-infused, distorted sound combined gritty riffs and commanding vocals, instantly getting the house moving. Blending grunge and emo influences, they delivered a high-energy set that set the tone for the night and left the audience primed for what was to come.

When Mannequin Pussy took the stage, the atmosphere reached its peak.

The Philadelphia-based band launched into their set with “I Don’t Know You,” igniting the crowd. Midway through, singer Marisa Dabice paused to connect, asking how many in the audience were seeing them for the first time. A sea of hands rose, underscoring the band’s growing fanbase and the sense of community among fans. Throughout the performance, Mannequin Pussy balanced raw, hard-hitting sounds with moments of vulnerability, creating a dynamic and powerful flow of energy. They played “Control,” “Loud Bark,” and fan favorite “I Got Heaven,” offering the perfect yin-yang of intense energy and moments of reprieve.

The connection between the band and their fans was palpable as the crowd moshed and crowd-surfed, fully immersed in the experience.

The band signed off with the perfect conclusion: “Romantic,” leaving the crowd in awe and blissfully satisfied with their rock and roll therapy.
