Maye leaves Orange County’s Observatory in dreamlike trance

Peace and serenity hit Santa Ana on Friday Night, as Ambar Lucid and Maye lit up the night at The Observatory. Arriving at the venue, the buzz and excited chatter could be heard from the restless crowd’ people were exchanging stories about Ambar Lucid and what her music meant to her.

It was heartwarming to see a crowd counting down the minutes until the opener hit the stage!

Sure enough, when enough time passed, the house lights turned off and energetic screams echoed throughout the venue. A single spotlight turned on as Ambar Lucid graced everyone with her presence. Her silhouette gracefully accompanied the intro to her set; cheers erupted as she greeted Santa Ana. Ambar put me in awe… I wasn’t too familiar with her sound and vibe walking into the show, but I’m a fan now. As she performed song after song, I became into her music more and more. Ambar absolutely dominated the stage; she had the crowd in the palm of her hand. Her angelic vocals had everyone in a daze. Towards the end of her set, a fan gave her some flowers, furthering her already angelic vibe.

As Ambar’s set concluded, everyone in The Observatory exploded with cheers and praise for her. The house lights turned on, but the eager crowd was excited for more. Everyone rushed to use the bathroom, grab some concessions, or look at some merch, making sure not to miss a second of Maye.

Soon after, the house lights went down once more. Everyone exploded in cheers.

Players appeared out of the darkness, taking their respective spots on the stage. Another explosion of excitement erupted from the crowd as Maye came out last. From song one, her dreamy vocals had everyone hooked in a dream state. Everyone was gently swaying along with the music; it felt like everybody, myself included, was in a calm trance.

As Maye’s set came to a close, a fan gave her flowers, as well, which she happily received. Of course, the singer-songwriter finished her set with her big hit, “Tú. The crowd sang every word back to Maye with as much love as they could give. Maye was an absolute dream to witness live — she’s definitely a must-see!
