Orville Peck packs Hollywood Palladium at rescheduled show
The rescheduled first night of The Stampede Tour with Orville Peck at the Hollywood Palladium was a sold-out success. As this marked the end of the U.S. leg of the tour, fans came eager to celebrate, sporting all kinds of eye-catching, head-turning outfits, ready to sing and dance the night away. Orville Peck originally postponed the date from late September due to vocal strain, but he made a timely return — much to fans’ delight. Joining him were country artists Emily Nenni and Nikki Lane.
I was thrilled to capture another unforgettable night in Los Angeles.
Emily Nenni, with her classic honky-tonk sound and heartache-filled songs, is an artist on the rise. Earlier this year, she and her band made a stop in my hometown of Templeton, CA, for an incredible show at our local Club Car Bar. This time, her set was stripped down, featuring just her and guitarist Jake for a raw, acoustic performance. These intimate sets allow listeners to connect with the stories behind her songs, spanning from her early work to her latest album, Drive & Cry. As her set wrapped up, a large portion of the crowd began rolling in.
Next up was country singer-songwriter Nikki Lane. Known for her outlaw, vintage country style with a touch of indie rock, she’s become a top artist on my playlist over the years. Judging by the crowd’s size, it’s clear she’s also a hit among Peck fans. The Highway Queen singer and her band delivered an authentic country sound, full of attitude and confidence. Nikki, a high school dropout from South Carolina, burst onto the music scene in 2011. With four albums to her name, she played hits like “Right Time”, “Denim & Diamonds”, and my personal favorite, “First High”. Fans danced on the edges of the crowd, clearly enjoying a classic, country-rocking good time.
By the end of her set, the sold-out crowd was ready for the main act.
As blue lights dimmed the stage, Orville Peck and his band emerged, opening with “Big Sky”. Fans took a moment to soak in the mellow atmosphere before energy surged as “Turn to Hate” kicked off. The crowd erupted with joy, fully embracing the masked singer’s invitation for a memorable night. By the time “C’mon Baby, Cry” began, the audience was singing along, fully immersed in an unforgettable performance as Orville encouraged everyone to let loose, cry, and sing all night long.
