St. Louis fans are hot for Third Eye Blind & friends

It was another scorching hot day in St. Louis, as fans gathered for early alternative heavyweights Third Eye Blind at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater, joined by Yellowcard and A R I Z O N A.

The show started while the sun was still high in the sky. A R I Z O N A took the stage and joined the fans for a sweaty opening set. This was not my first time seeing this band… but the heat added another layer of intensity to what was already a lively show. A R I Z O N A is a band who leave it all on the stage when they play.

Between this set and the next, I drank a $25 extra large frozen daiquiri in about five minutes in an attempt to lower my body temperature.

Yellowcard was the next band to take the stage. Old enough listeners will recognize the band from back in the day when their hit single “Ocean Avenue” dominated the music video programming on MTV. The band recently returned from a six-year hiatus, just in time for the pop punk revival to be in full swing… yet they have a violin.

It was then time for the final act of the night. Even though the sun was down at this point, it was still hot. Despite the frozen daiquiri, I was still sweating. I think each band that night made a comment about the heat and you could tell it was taking its toll on them. It’s always impressive when an artist can put on a great show despite harsh weather conditions; Third Eye Blind and the other bands of the night definitely passed this test. The show was a great time, as fans sang along with famous songs like “Jumper” and “Semi-Charmed Life”. 3EB also had a very impressive light show. If you want to feel like a teenager watching MTV music videos in your parent’s living room again, be sure to catch this tour!
