T-Pain welcomes Waukee, Iowa to his Wiscansin Mansion party
On June 4th, T-Pain’s sold-out Mansion In Wiscansin Party made a stop at the Vibrant Music Hall in Waukee, Iowa. This wasn’t merely a night of live music, it was a house party with 2,500 people and elaborate production, curated and hosted by the Nappy Boy himself. With support from up-and-coming rappers from his label, including LaRussell, NandoSTL, and Young Ca$h, this party was one attendees will be talking about for years to come.
If ‘throw the party of the year’ was the directive T-Pain gave them, then these openers really understood their assignment.
From the moment Young Ca$h took the stage, the energy was through the roof and never dipped. The hype men danced and passed out Mardi Gras beads to guests on the floor. The DJ played bangers in-between sets that kept everyone dancing. When NandoSTL came out and belted out his emotion-filled songs, the crowd matched his energy by lighting up the room with their phone flashes unprompted.
A breakout performance of the night came from LaRussell. He kept a huge smile on his face all night and it was infectious. LaRussell really turned it up a notch when he hopped into the crowd to perform amongst the people, even climbing up to the balcony and singing out overlooking the crowd. By the time he made it back to the stage, he gave a shout-out to the crowd, stating that it was the warmest welcome from a city that he had never previously played in. Iowa loved every minute of his set and the vibes were good by the time T-Pain took the stage.
T-Pain walked out in a patchwork suit and top hat customary to his image, greeting the crowd by inviting everyone into his mansion for the party.
The video screens behind him transformed into vivid visuals of luxurious staircases, draped in red carpet and accented with marble banisters — exactly as you’d expect inside the main entrance of a mansion. The theme of “house party” was present in every single detail.
T-Pain is known for pushing boundaries and forging space; he took all of the best parts of hip hop and pop music and combined them to become a household name. There is not any other voice that played on Top 40 radio between the years of 2007-2009 more than Florida’s own Nappy Boy and the Mansion In Wiscansin Party made sure fans got to hear all of his greatest features. From his verses on “Cyclone” with Baby Bash and “Kiss Kiss” by Chris Brown to “Low” by Flo Rida, “Got Money” by Lil Wayne, and “Blame It” by Jamie Foxx, every song you could think of that played in clubs and house parties while T-Pain was in his initial prime were played. His iconic originals were sprinkled throughout the set; “Bartender”, “Im N Luv (Wit a Stripper)”, “Booty Wurk (One Cheek At A TIme)”, and “Buy You a Drank (Shawty Snappin)” all made the show.
It was obvious that T-Pain took great care in planning the biggest and best house party that he could — and the fans loved it. There wasn’t a single moment throughout his set people weren’t singing and dancing along. T-Pain’s Mansion in Wiscansin Party was one for the books in Waukee, so check it out if it comes close to your city!
