The Black Crowes perform Shoreline Amp’s second concert since pandemic
Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA opened its gates for the second time since the onset of the pandemic on Sunday, August 22nd to welcome guests to a good ol’ rock and roll show! And, not just any rock show — The Black Crowes were in town! Opening the concert was Dirty Honey, based in Los Angeles, who had a ton of energy; it felt like an old-school classic rock band, even though they released their first EP in 2019 and their debut self-titled album just this year. Lead singer Marc Labelle’s voice was on fire! The band, as a whole, reminded me of early Guns N Roses or Aerosmith. In the middle of the set, Labelle went into the audience to serenade the crowd.
After a short break, it was time to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of The Black Crowes’ debut hit album, ‘Shake Your Money Maker’.
The band went all out with an amazing set production, including a vintage jukebox, lights, an onstage bar and special risers on the sides for VIP ticket holders to have the best seat in the house. The Black Crowes played Shake Your Money Maker from beginning to end and then played all the rest of the hits we love! Lead singer Chris Robinson was a firecracker of energy, dancing and singing. There was an obvious performance connection with his brother Rich Robinson, whose signature guitar playing was flawless. I grew up listening to the album as a kid with my mom and this show was phenomenal. The night was not entirely sold out, so Shoreline Amphitheatre staff surprised guests with free upgrades, even letting people into the area in front of the stage! It’s safe to say concert-goers had a brilliant time, just like me.
