The Expendables sell out Goldfield Trading Post in Roseville, CA

Reggae rock band, The Expendables from Santa Cruz, CA sold out Goldfield Trading Post in Roseville, CA on Saturday, March 25th. Singer and guitar player Geoff Weers said that the last time they were here they played a free show in the park. Roseville was definitely excited to have them back in town.

The Expendables have been playing together since 1997. They have a unique sound that blends a diverse mix of styles including reggae, rock, ska, punk and metal. In addition to playing many of their hits such as “Down Down Down”, “Sinsemillia”, “Let Her Go”, “Sacrifice”, “Ganja Smuggling” and “Bowl for Two”. They also played a couple well known 90’s songs including “I Got 5 on It” by Luniz, which was really fun and nostalgic for those of us who were teens in the 90’s.

The crowd was energetic and The Expendables were really fun to watch.

It was a treat to have two really awesome openers. The first was Amplified, a rapper and singer/songwriter who is also from Santa Cruz, CA. He was so talented and energetic, the crowd loved his vibe. It was really different and cool that he was accompanied by a flutist and a DJ. They definitely did a great job of getting the crowd excited!

The second opener of the night was another Northern California band from Ukiah, CA called Top Shelf (cool name, if we do say so). They had so much energy and the positive vibes were flowing. With the addition of horns and keys, their sound was unique, yet familiar, akin to the sound of Sublime. My favorite part of the whole night was when their saxophone player sang a cover of “Brown Eyed Lover”, the first song he listened to with his girlfriend.

Then, right in the middle of the song while singing the lyrics “I don’t wanna keep my baby waiting”….he reached into his jacket and pulled out a ring and proposed to her. His girlfriend happened to be right up front and also right next to me for the perfect photo opportunity! I was so happy that I was able to capture such a special moment for them. It was definitely a perfect and unforgettable proposal!

Overall, it was such a fun night! I can’t wait to see The Expendables again and you should definitely catch them on tour, you’ll have an amazing time!
