This year there has been a few 10 year anniversaries for reggae festivals, starting with the 10th annual California Roots Music & Arts Festival in Monterey, the MayJah RayJah Festival in Hawaii and coming up this weekend on August 17th and 18th, Reggae on the Mountain will be celebrating it’s 10th year! This is great news and means that reggae is still alive and thriving.
I can’t think of a better way to spend one of the last weekends of the summer!
This year, Reggae on the Mountain will be held at its new location of King Gillette Ranch in beautiful Malibu, CA. One of the most stunning locales of the Santa Monica Mountains, the 588-acre ranch offers not only an amazing view, but also showcases southern California’s rich archaeological, cultural and historical resources, including a Chumash settlement and nationally significant structures designed of razor magnate by King C. Gillette in the 1920’s. Reggae on the Mountain will include two different stages of music, as well as camping, glamping, yoga, wellness centers, jewelry and art vendors and, of course, great festival food.
Headliners Steel Pulse will be performing on Saturday, while Matisyahu closes out Sunday evening. Other artists include Julian Marley, Arise Roots, Anuhea, Mike Love, Synrgy, HIRIE, Prime Livity and many other beloved reggae bands. I can’t think of a better way to spend one of the last weekends of the summer! For more information on the festival, visit the links below for tickets.
