Bailey Zimmerman brought his New to Country summer tour to the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles — and it was a wild one. Right now, Bailey is playing all over the radio stations, becoming a poplar name with younger country music fans with huge hype going around about how entertaining his live shows are.
When it comes to country music, I had to go check it out for myself.
Promoting his album due to be released in just a few days on August 8th titled Different Night Same Rodeo, Bailey Zimmerman was ready to let loose on the amassed crowd… and, let me tell you, the crowd was loaded in and ready for a party!
The fair stage had quite the nice setup, with multiple video screens making for a very visual effect-heavy show. As the band took the stage, going straight into “New to Country”, out of the top riser shot up Bailey Zimmerman high into the air with some fireworks! A rope then dropped from the rafters for Zimmerman to slide down and get out onto the catwalk. Talk about an entrance with a bang!
Zimmerman was off to a wild start for an eventful night. Fans were ecstatic as he rolled into “Never Comin’ Home”, “Fall in Love”, and “Backup Plan” — the latter of which is currently his radio hit out with Luke Combs. There was a lot going on onstage during the night, with smoke pillars, a ton of pyro, and great theme changes with the effects playing displayed on the extra large screen.
As the night hit the halfway mark with “Holy Smokes”, Bailey took a moment to speak candidly with the crowd.
He commented on men’s mental health and how he had lost a close friend from suicide; Baliey reminded the crowd that we all need to open up and talk to one another. Last, Zimmerman dedicated the song “Holding On” to this loss, which he then went into with emotions high.
A couple more songs were played before Bailey Zimmerman performed his latest release “Ashes” (featuring Diplo) and fan-favorite “Religiously”. As the crowed cheered loud, Zimmerman exited the stage before coming back to do the bass-heavy song “All The Way” by BigXthaPlug that he’s featured on. That was definitely a different type of sound than the main part of the show! Leaving on a high note, Zimmerman kept smash hit “Rock and a Hard Place” for last, ensuring fans left the fairgrounds with everything they came to hear.
All in all, for being a mainstream contemporary country artist, Bailey Zimmerman’s live show does live up to the hype; it’s full of liveliness, entertaining effects, and good times. I highly recommend!
