Reggae side projects are all the rage up and down the California coast, but Clear Conscience bassist Julian Nielsen has taken the idea of solo versatility to the next level. Early 2014, Nielsen started channeling his ideas in the recording studio, beginning to lay down an album under the name Iron Rhythm; the true significance behind this feat is the fact that the ENTIRE album is Nielsen’s – every instrument, every lyric, every heavy bassline. The debut album “Love and Sensimilla”, is expected to be released sometime this upcoming June or July. The album will feature Clear Conscience frontman Jeff McDermont on at least one groovin' track and other reggae artists.
In between the blatant reggae reverberations are touches of rock, funk and hip hop to blend the listening experience
Iron Rhythm, with singles: “Can you feel it?” and “Lately”, recently released on iTunes, can be compared to Clear Conscience insomuch that stoner sentiment and love songs are first and foremost. In between the blatant reggae reverberations are touches of rock, funk and hip hop to blend the listening experience. After rocking a few shows around the Bay Area as Iron Rhythm, Julian Nielsen along with CC drummer Matt Katzin, and CC lead guitarist Blaine Dillinger will be back playing with Clear Conscience for the 5th Annual California Roots Festival (mere days away). Catch Julian and his crew around the festival any time during the weekend and receive a free download card with the two latest single releases!
