Kilby Block Party announces biggest lineup to date for 2023

Indie fans have something MAJOR to look forward to in 2023! Kilby Block Party announced this year’s festival lineup and it is without a doubt their biggest to date. Salt Lake City is gearing up for a good time, and you have to be there! Featuring headliners like The Strokes, Pavement, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kilby Block Party celebrates their 4th festival run in downtown SLC at the Utah State Fair Park on May 12th through the 14th, 2023.

The Strokes are rumored to have collaborated with legendary producer Rick Rubin at his studio in Costa Rica in late 2022 for the band’s seventh studio album.

Without a set date for its release, fans could expect some hints of the new album around the time of KBP. Pavement, the iconic 90s indie-alt band, recently commenced its 2022 reunion tour in the US and at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, amassing much praise for their return. Yeah Yeah Yeahs also experienced a comeback with the release of Cool It Down in 2022, the band’s 5th studio album and most recent album since 2013’s Mosquito.

Other exciting acts in the lineup feature Pixies, Run The Jewels, Dominic Fike, Japanese Breakfast, Hippo Campus, Goth Babe, Remi Wolf, Alex G, Parquet Courts, and Utah’s own Backseat Lovers. The Backseat Lovers are most famous for their hit song “Kilby Girl”, which is a retelling of the music-based subculture born within the mostly conservative landscape of Utah. It points directly to Kilby Court, the iconic Salt Lake City music venue, known for its indie/alternative/punk local scene.

According to the official Kilby Block Party site, “The Kilby Block Party is our gift to Salt Lake City’s music community for keeping live music thriving over the last 20 years. Throughout Kilby Court’s long history, we take pride in supporting so many artists — both locally, as well as across the globe. KBP celebrates the bravery it takes to perform one’s art, while also celebrating the supportive community that fosters its growth. We believe in the magic of this relationship and work to create, as well as hope to inspire, more connective experiences for everyone in our city.”

KBP also supports local charities by donating portions of festival proceeds.

This year, proceeds are directed towards Equality Utah, Save Our Great Salt Lake, and Spyhop.

KBP tickets are out now, with single-day and 3-day options available. Fans can also purchase VIP and Super VIP options, which allow Fast-Lane festival entrance and re-entry, access to VIP viewing decks, and exclusive local food trucks. For more information, click the links below.
