East Coast natives New Kingston just announced a huge nationwide tour titled “The Protect Me Tour” based off the single from their latest installment Kingston City. “Protect Me” is the eighth track from the LP which blasted off to the #1 spot on Billboard, making the debut under Easy Star Records a smash hit. The album contains twelve tracks with guest appearances from Tribal Seeds, Kimie Miner, Sister Carol, The Wailing Souls, and the late reggae legend Sugar Minott.
“They try and clip our branches, but can’t kill our roots”
The four-member family band will kick off their tour with a bang, dropping a music video in September just ahead of the 30+ city, 51 day tour.
The significance and core of the song revolves around the positive message of staying true to core values, especially in the face of the many distractions the universe can ultimately throw your way. Guitarist and vocalist Stephen adds, “The song is about protecting yourself from the different entities that take you away from your path and staying strong. It’s asking for protection from a higher force. Tahir’s verse states ‘They try and clip our branches, but can’t kill our roots,’ and this is exactly the statement we want our single and tour to promote.”
