The line-up for the fourth annual Levitate Music and Arts Festival has just been announced and has all reggae/blues-rock/folk fans on the east coast excited for an inspiring day of great food, art, and even better music. The festival is put on each year by the Levitate foundation, which is a surf and skate shop, based in Marshfield, Massachusetts. The actual festival will be held at the Marshfield Fairgrounds, forty minutes south of Boston, on July 9th 2016. Festivalgoers also have the option to camp offsite at the nearby Wompatuck State Park, with bussing provided for the full Levitate experience. In just four short years this festival has continuously been growing and gets more support from the community and fans every year. Levitate owner, Daniel Hassett talks about the vibe of the festival, “We take a lot of pride in bringing people together in a unique outdoors setting, in the grass, for a full day. It brings out the best in our community and creates a laid back, old-fashioned vibe. It's not only the excellent music, art, and food, but also the people in attendance at the festival who bring new friends each year and spread the word, that has allowed Levitate to grow in an organic way”.
“It brings out the best in our community and creates a laid back, old-fashioned vibe.”
This year’s line-up consists of “The Wheels of Soul Tour” including Tedeschi Trucks Band, Los Lobos, and North Mississippi Allstars, as well as Rebelution, Lettuce, Stick Figure, Moon Taxi, Twiddle, Nahko and Medicine for the People, The Movement, and Ron Gallo. The Levitate Foundation has been trying to book Tedeschi Trucks Band since year one and this year, they will be headlining the anticipated event. This is particularly special for this band and the town because Susan Tedeschi grew up in Norwell, MA, a town just outside of Marshfield. Stick Figure lead singer, Scott Woodruff, is also originally from Duxbury, MA and is the only band to have played this festival all four years. Each band brings a unique vibe to the festival while still complimenting each other for the perfect day of music.
The art and food vendors at the Levitate Festival play a major role as well. Each food vendor is picked out specifically to be healthy and delicious and the artwork is all one-of-a-kind. The Levitate Foundation is also extremely community oriented. Each year they choose five non-profits as well as giving $1 to the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield for every ticket sold to the festival. The Levitate Music and Arts Festival does an amazing job each year of spreading positivity and simplicity among its community and allowing people to come together every year to celebrate art and life.
