Clear Conscience’s ‘Native Jane’ album review

San Francisco Bay Area’s own Clear Conscience will return this June 10th with the newest addition to their heavy arsenal titled Native Jane. The hallmark of their musical connection is one constructed on potent grooves, deep bass lines and intense vocals. The soulful tracks on Clear Conscience’s new album match lead singer Jeff Conscience’s voice beat for beat.

It’s a vital package of reggae, rock and hip hop wrapped in beautiful and top notch production.

The first track “Nagi Tanka Dub” gently eases the listener in and sets the tone nicely for the rest of the album. From there, Native Jane takes off like a rocket, with beats and melodies intertwining in harmony with guest appearances from 77 Jefferson, Cas Haley, Ross May and more. Even the few ballads left over have their own special kind of boldness.

Similar to previous albums from Clear Conscience, you can expect to throw in the CD, select “Random,” on the machine and be confident to get a great song one after the other. It’s a vital package of reggae, rock and hip hop wrapped in beautiful and top notch production.

Native Jane is a complete and comprehensive assortment of tracks with a clear inspiration from Northern California. Moreover, the album is a testament to an ongoing love affair with songwriting which is truly evident from the first listen.
