Paramore releases second single “The News” from upcoming album, This is Why

Hang in there Paramore fans! The wait is almost over. After 5 years, Paramore is following up its album After Laughter with the release of the highly anticipated 6th studio album, This is Why. Set to drop on February 10, 2023, vocalist Hayley Williams, Taylor York (guitar), and Zac Farro (drums) have graciously eased the minds of eager listeners by releasing 2 singles from the upcoming album.

The first single released was the title track, “This is Why” and was dropped in conjunction with the album release announcement and a music video. The newest single released, “The News” dropped earlier this month and is receiving rave reviews from music lovers worldwide.

Lyrically, “The News” discusses the juxtaposition of being aware of the deplorable state of the world while remaining safe behind our computer screens. As humans, we are in a constant battle for awareness, responsibility and maintaining our mental health. Williams does an excellent job of using music to reflect on these battles.

Turning off the news does not remove the devastation of war-torn nations but it does allow us a reprieve from it for the sake of self-care but should we embrace a reprieve when those within the nation are not allowed that luxury?

Paramore has brought up an important point within mankind and humanity in a world that has impacted the majority of us in such an exhausting manner over the last few years.

Previously, Paramore has mentioned that fans can expect heavier guitar riffs within This is Why, so if you’re a fan of the earliest Paramore sound you’ll be a fan this upcoming album as well.
