Seattle-based rock outfit The Unfit is about to release Disconnected, a 10-track LP via Share It Music on February 28th. This raucous unveiling follows the band’s 2022 debut EP, Ants in the Big Machine — a three-song salute to anarchy. Punk is not dead.
And if there is any city known for pushing the boundaries of punk, it’s Seattle.
Longtime friends Jake Knuth, Michael Lee, T.J. Johnson, and Tyler Johnson have been jamming together since high school — a true garage band, if you will. And, like any good garage band, their music is splattered with an interminable amount of angst. From shoving aside the proverbial ‘little guy’ to make way for the “Big Boys” to the ultra vanity of “Look At Me” (a whole song with just those three words till the end when the band asks why no one is looking), The Unfit criticizes modern times in classic punk style.
Knuth comments on the album: “The record is a compilation of everything we’ve put out digitally since our last LP in 2020, which was actually also a compilation of stuff recorded over multiple years. We only make stuff when inspired and after four years, we finally had a whopping 24 minutes (or whatever it is), so we put it all on this LP for people who like to own a thing.”
