WORLD VIDEO PREMIERE: Jeshua Marshall, “In A Dream”

Jeshua Marshall is a man of many sounds and he aims to continue making his mark on the music world.

Hailing from Bend, Oregon, Marshall has been in the throes of making music from a very young age, forming his first band (Larry and His Flask) at 16-years-old, with the help of his brother, Jamin. Join me as I dive in a little deeper into his world and even take a peek at his latest music video!

There’s something I have been noticing in the music industry lately, and I feel the online streaming platforms with their extended reach and ability to feature non-radio music has a huge impact on it. More and more listeners are exploring many different genres, and bands are doing the same. The result? Open-minded fans who just want good vibes, and artists that are pushing the walls out, breaking free from the norm, and making the music they want to make. This combination has undoubtedly changed the dynamic of what a genre is anymore, with a more inclusive attitude and inviting all walks of life to enjoy melodies meant for everyone.

Jeshua Marshall fits right into this paradigm shift. Folk, Americana, rock, blues, reggae, ska, punk… Marshall crafts amazing cocktails of sound. Since closing a huge chapter of life that was his previous band, Larry and His Flask (a punk driven band with an Americana sound), he’s been busy on his individual project of making music that he feels more at home with at this point in his life.

In January of 2021, Marshall dropped his debut album, Shoot The Moon, followed by his recently released sophomore LP, The Flood, on Sept. 22. Both albums are filled with music made from the heart; it’s the kind of music you can tell, was the result of someone pouring themselves into the moment and writing from within.

A music video is a staple to new album releases, and as promised, I have one for you! The song is the third track down the list on The Flood, and titled “In a Dream”. Jeshua describes the surreal “In a Dream” as “an ethereal experience, one that explores loss and longing in an appropriately dream-like state.” Scene by scene, the video shows you the absolute beauty of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer as Marshall sings and dances his way to the end of the song. It was filmed in Central Oregon at a huge canyon near Smith Rock State Park, just north of Terrebonne. Terrebonne is a half-hour north of Bend, where Jeshua lives.

Marshall adds: “The brilliant filmmaker Jesse Locke, my good friend and longtime collaborator, filmed the video. It was just him and I running around central Oregon finding cool places to shoot. We did it all in one day and had a blast filming!

I am excited to introduce you to Jeshua Marshall, and I hope that after reading this, you will be too. Good music feels good, and this is good music. Give the video a watch and be sure to check out the new album, The Flood. Marshall will be embarking on a world tour starting in January with the first stop in the Netherlands!
