Reggae on the Mountain 2019: Day One

It’s official! Reggae on the Mountain was a huge success this year. This also marked the 10th Anniversary for this steadily growing festival, which is why the festival was moved this year from Topanga Canyon to the fabulous King Gilette Ranch, one of the most stunning Los Angeles locations in the Santa Monica Mountains. The 588-acre King Gillette Ranch is situated in the heart of the Malibu and surrounded by oak trees, rolling hills and the beauty of the mountains in every direction, which immediately puts you ‘in the mood’ from the moment you arrive on the property.

Luckily, the weather this particular weekend in August was not quite as hot as it could be this time of the year, which was another plus for this particular weekend. This festival offered so many unique amenities, such as a yoga and a Wellness Village, camping, glamping in a Lotus Belle tent and even Airstream trailers! This year, there was a silent dance hall for campers, enabling those with a ticket to continue partying until 3am. There were games to play by day, hula hoops to rent and you could even have a psychic reading if you needed some additional insight. Vendors surrounded the event with great artwork, clothing, jewelry and  many food trucks with options for everyone.

This year’s 10th Anniversary had its biggest lineup ever! So many fabulous bands graced two different stages throughout the weekend, starting with Strange Brew, Quinto Sol, Dread Kennedy, Arise Roots, Better Chemistry, Anuhea, Prime Livity, Pato Banton, The Originators and Julian Marley. Headlining artists were the legendary Steel Pulse on Saturday, closing out a fun-filled day in roots reggae style. Stay tuned for Day Two to come!
