The day has finally come: the last and final announcement for the biggest reggae event of the year, the 2016 California Roots Festival! After two previous announcements in 2015, any lover of reggae/world/hip hop and more has been waiting on the edge of their seat to hear the last artists to be included in the largest growing festival in the country. And despite everyone’s assumptions, SOJA will not be taking the final headlining spot this year.
For Saturday, May 28th, festivalgoers will conclude the day watching the man and legend Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley onstage – the second Marley of the holiday weekend! The man who stole the show in 2015 returns for round two, as well: a big round of applause to welcome back Michael Franti & Spearhead. Other big names in the third announcement are Pepper, J Boog, Barrington Levy, Raging Fyah, and Mike Love, as well as The Wheeland Brothers, Will and the People, Katastro, Jordan T, South Bay Dub Allstars, and The Oles. It’s concluded: the 2016 Cali Roots line-up is the most epic and anticipated date!

Located at the Monterey Fair Grounds over Memorial Day Weekend this May 27th-29th, the California Roots Music and Arts Festival is celebrating its 7th year! Come join the festivities, with camping available for purchase on the fairgrounds, street and lot parking, and good vibes included with every ticket. There are three-day and individual day passes, and remember to buy your camping pass separately if you want to go that route. This happens to be the first year that the Cali Roots crew is offering payment plans for tickets, so make sure to take advantage of that offer before the festival sells out! Also, the Cali Roots family wants to remind all festivalgoers to be respectful to not only the fairgrounds, but also the surrounding town and its businesses while attending the event. For full rules and regulations, visit www.californiarootsfestival.com, and you can purchase your tickets directly from the site. You bringing the whole family? The festival is for all ages, and children under the age of 10 have free entry, so there’s no need to schedule a babysitter if you are a parent. The Cali Roots website further broadcasts that absolutely no frowns or bad vibes are allowed, so escape the drama for a weekend and join the movement this May in Monterey! #itsamovement #caliroots2016
