WORLD VIDEO PREMIERE: The Problem With Kids Today “All I Wanna Be”
Damn, those kids today… You know the ones. A grand example is the rising rock-and-roll trio out of New Haven, Connecticut, making all the noise in the next house over. That sound you hear? That’s The Problem With Kids Today, who’s perfectly willing to show you just how far their noise can go.
Formed in the formidable year of 2020, this band pulls out all the sounds, synths, and strengths of what’s left of rock-and-roll — a genre mostly muddled from the 80s onward.
TPWKT charges forth with a true punk attitude latent since the late 70s. But that’s not to say the band doesn’t pull from modern influences. In this world premiere of “All I Wanna Be”, The Problem With Kids Today hooks listeners with a drilling beat against shouted vocals and a thumping four-string bass. And what’s the dire message? They’re going to do “all that it takes” to just be themselves. In your youth, you have the whole world in front of you… but, for this band, all they “wanna be” is utterly and unapologetically authentic.
As the final single off their debut album Born To Rock (releasing next week on February 9th), it’s clear that the band is avid about chasing their self-described ‘destiny’ — no matter the stakes. Although the road of rock may be, for lack of a better word, ‘rocky’, this band’s past just so happens to be rock-solid. Childhood best friends Silas “The Slayer” Lourenco Lang and “The Great” Tate Brooks joined forces to create their own electric punk sound, later recruiting “Rock N Roll” Reena Yu on drums to cement the three-piece together. After gaining popularity in the local live music scene, the trio headed to the studio to work with heavyweight producer Adam Lasus (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Yo La Tengo, Juliana Hatfield, etc.) to lay down their raucous 11-track record to come. Honestly, we can’t wait to hear more!
