Thirty Seconds to Mars wraps tour in Mountain View, CA with AFI
Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California got to host the last USA tour date for Thirty Seconds to Mars — sorry Leto fans in the states, you missed your chance. Lucky for you, Top Shelf Music was there to capture some photos to help your imagination run wild due to no reviews allowed for this show — sorry, avid readers.
What I can say is how memorable of a night it was for many fans, thanks to Jared Leto.
But first things first, let’s talk the opening band. Since 1998, AFI has been drawing in fans with their emo/screamo music with major hits like “Miss Murder”, “Girl’s Not Grey”, and “Silver and Cold”. AFI also puts on one hell of a set, as they did this night at Shoreline. In the early 2000s ,as AFI was on the rise, I was in middle school (admittedly, in my emo phase) and this was my go-to band. It was an absolute blast getting to photograph them as they performed all of my — and the crowd’s — favorites. With such high energy and great crowd interaction, lead singer Davey Havok has still got it. From back of the stage to as far forward into the crowd that Davey’s mic cable would allow him to go, fans were as transfixed on the band as they were in 2004. And as for Thirty Seconds to Mars… well, that I can’t divulge. This was the last show of their tour, so you’ll have to keep your ears and eyes out for the next go-round!
