This past weekend, CRSSD Festival returned to San Diego’s Waterfront Park to celebrate its 10th anniversary, kicking off another run of house and techno under the SoCal skies. The two-day CRSSD Spring edition yet again solidified itself as a must-attend event for house and techno heads, delivering two days of nonstop beats, epic views, pure dance vibes, and of course, after parties!
For 10 years, CRSSD has been creating an experience that combines world-class electronic deejays with the unreal backdrop of downtown SD. Spring 2025 was no different, with three distinct stages catered to different shades of house and techno. Ocean View and The Palms brought many sub-genres of house, while City Steps kept things dark and driving with a full techno takeover.
One of the distinguishing characteristics of CRSSD is its commitment to quality sound and an environment that puts music first. Unlike larger mainstream festivals that focus on over-the-top production, CRSSD maintains an intimate setting, where fans can engage directly with the artists and their sets. Not to mention, the festival’s city by the sea location makes it that much more of a mood.
Night One set the bar high.
Green Velvet brought his progressive, tech, and acid house sounds to The Palms. Meanwhile, Justice delivered a stunning performance at Ocean View with their electro, house, and rock elements into a set that no one will ever forget. Towards the end of the night, short bursts of rain added an unexpected touch, making the dance floor feel even more alive. I mean, who doesn’t like partying in the rain?!
Sunday brought perfect festival weather with sunny skies, crisp early spring air, and a light ocean breeze. The energy remained high throughout the day, with attendees soaking in every moment. City Steps continued to be a techno lover’s paradise. The Palms was equally energetic and offered some of the best house music selections of the weekend.
Closing out the festival, fans followed the fish, Fisher, over at Ocean View with his high-energy set, dropping banger after banger that had everyone dancing nonstop.
Did I mention it rained AGAIN?!
There’s something special about CRSSD that keeps people coming back twice a year. CRSSD delivers an elevated festival experience, prioritizing music over a rave-like atmosphere, putting the artists and their art at the forefront. The festival instills an environment where attendees can truly lose themselves in the music, surrounded by fans who share a deep appreciation for house and techno.
Beyond the music, CRSSD’s city waterfront location added an extra layer of charm to the experience. Whether you were dancing with friends or taking a break to enjoy the cool ocean breeze on the grass, the setting was everything. The energy was obvious and literally everyone stayed moving.
The countdown to CRSSD Fall 2025 has officially begun. If this Spring edition was any sort of sign, the next one is bound to be just as amazing. See everyone again on the dancefloor!
