Łaszewo fills The Sovereign in St. Louis

Łaszewo stopped at The Sovereign in St. Louis right in the middle of what has been a pretty huge year for the electronic trio. The group has been showing up seemingly everywhere lately, especially on festival lineups. This year alone they’ve played Bonnaroo, Beyond Wonderland Chicago, Electric Forest, Outside Lands, Breakaway, and Austin City Limits. It’s been a quick rise and getting to witness them live in a room the size of The Sovereign felt like a good chance to catch them before shows like this become harder to come by! Łaszewo’s music sits somewhere between indie pop and electronic dance music, with enough live vocals to set their shows apart from a typical deejay spot.
At The Sovereign, that translated into a crowd singing along with every word.
Arden Jones opened the night — another artist worth keeping an eye on. I had seen him a while back opening for Passion Pit; he has continued building momentum since then. His mix of pop, indie, and hip hop was welcome with the kind of crowd Łaszewo pulls, coming across as much more confident onstage this time around. Jones is def an up-and-comer, but one who seems to be moving in the right direction rather quickly.
The room filled up quickly once Łaszewo’s set got going, with the energy staying high till the end. A lot of the group’s music has a lighter, upbeat sound and the crowd knew more than you might expect. The Sovereign was also a good room for them, big enough for the production and lights to shine, but still small enough that the show felt up-close and personal.
With the number of festivals they’ve been playing and the crowds they’re starting to pull, Łaszewo seems to be escalating in their career pretty quickly. Their St. Louis stop felt like catching that transition in real time: a band already playing big festival stages, just packing a much smaller room for the night.
