Reggae night at Jannus Live with Iya Terra & friends

On Saturday October 19th, Jannus Live was “Marching On” with Iya Terra for the Coming To Light Tour, with support from The Ries Brothers, For Peace Band and special guest, Summer Survivors. With all of them working together, they put on an amazing show for their fans, which largely included the Reggae Rise Up Fest fans in St. Petersburg, FL.

Summer Survivors kicked off the night with their surf rock reggae vibes out of our nearby Sarasota, FL. With lead vocalist Nate Davis hitting notes that feel like they would never end, along with Paul King and John Widmann on guitar and vocals, Ted Clark on bass and Tommy Collins on drums, they all had the crowd signing along and jumping with their amazing energy. Joining them onstage was special guest Kenny Mullins, vocalist of Resinated out of St. Petersburg, FL. These two local favorites had everyone wanting more.

When Iya Terra hit the stage at Jannus Live, the crowd went wild with excitement.

Next to hit the stage was For Peace Band; they are the only band operating in North America from the small island of Guam. Formed in 2012, For Peace Band has been spreading peace across the globe while holding onto their island roots as they deliver authentic island reggae. They had everyone dancing easily. Check out their latest album Always Love and newest release “Fly Up”!

Up next was The Ries Brothers, another local favorite from Clearwater, FL. This multi-talented brother duo was amazing and, boy, can they put on a show. With Charlie singing lead vocals, while simultaneously playing drums and keyboard bass, Kevin provides background vocals as he plays the guitar. They write their own music, blending rock, blues, funk and reggae into their own unique sound. The brothers played multiple instruments in ways you’ve never seen before, so check them out — they are sure to entertain! Joining them onstage was For Peace Band and Iya Terra; there was no doubt this crowd was in awe and pumped up for Iya Terra.

Starting in LA in 2013, this high-energy band has been labeled as one of today’s leaders in the “New Roots” movement. Iya Terra released their first full album Full Circle in 2015 and went straight to the top of the reggae charts. Since then, Iya Terra has had the opportunity of sharing the stage with some of today’s biggest reggae artists, both old and new. Lead guitarist and vocalist, Nate Feinstein, along with lifelong friend and bassist, Nick Loporchio added Luis Tovar on keys, Danny Monar on percussion and Nick Sefakis on rhythm guitar to make the current lineup. When Iya Terra hit the stage at Jannus Live, the crowd went wild with excitement. They had The Ries Brothers and For Peace Band join them at times onstage also and, to everyone’s surprise, an extra special guest Kenny Bongos from SOJA. While Iya Terra was covering Black Sabbath‘s “War Pigs”, it started to pour rain and as everyone got soaked. The band then did a mind-blowing transition into “Marching On” without missing a beat. The crowd was mesmerized as they danced in the rain and was loving every minute of it. You really don’t want to miss the Coming To Light Tour, for it is a show you will not forget.
