Slightly Stoopid stirs up Avila Beach, CA
After two long years, Slightly Stoopid‘s renowned summer tour was finally back in action, hitting Avila Beach on July 14th, 2022. Not only that, but this time around, the Stoopid boys are being joined by some of the hottest reggae bands in the business: Fortunate Youth, Common Kings and Pepper (which unfortunately couldn’t make the Avila date).
Fortunate Youth started the night off playing an amazing set, with songs across their plethora of albums they’ve released over the years. One cool thing about FY is they have started bringing Ozzy (aka, We Should Smoke) along with them on the road, which is a smart idea because he’s super good at getting the crowd hyped up. I’ve seen FY many, many times and each time, they do not disappoint! They always kill it and bring the energy. Next up was LA-natives Common Kings; they are another band I’ve seen many times and are also a great band to see. They had the most energy out of anyone that night, running around and just hyping up the crowd with their sweet Hawaiian sound.Â
Finally it was time for Stoopid!
One thing I like about Slightly Stoopid is that every show is different — you never know who they will bring out from city to city! It was such a treat to have Chali 2Na (of legendary hip hop supergroup Jurassic 5) make an appearance. Another guest that was cool to see was Mr. Marlon “Ganja Farmer” Asher, originally migrating all the way to the States from Trinidad. If Slightly Stoopid comes to a city near you, make sure you go and see them.
