Closing out the North American leg of her Flow State World tour on December 1st, Tash Sultana performed a mesmerizing and energetic set at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, presented by Goldenvoice and with Aussie natives Ocean Alley as direct support. Opening the night with their #2 track titled “The Comedown” off their latest album, “Chiaroscuro” crowds began to sway in unison to Ocean Alley as heavy basslines and smooth jazz-like guitar riffs coursed through their bodies. This hypnotic experience would continue for the remainder of their set, closing out with the band's “Happy Sad” track (a personal favorite). 

… what we all experienced that night was magical and completely unexpected.

If you've never watched Tash Sultana live, do yourself a favor and get to the next nearest show – STAT! Guitars, trumpet, piano, drums… you name it, she plays it! How Tash manages to play each of these instruments while simultaneously creating and managing loops AND singing is beyond me. It's talent I've never experienced from any other artist. Opening with “Seed”, the intro song on her new hit album Flow State, Tash quickly captivated the audience with her voice, which was soon accompanied by soft strums of the guitar. Now I've seen Tash on a couple of other occasions, but what we all experienced that night was magical and completely unexpected. HUGE bass drops accompanied by an intense light show and projected visuals on a backdrop that created a silhouette of Tash as she hammered on her guitar. This wasn't just a show; it was a journey through the brilliancy of Tash Sultana and I'm forever grateful for having experienced it.
